Busy Week

Posted in Uncategorized on April 28, 2010 by zclabo

I haven’t really had much time to blog recently but I just wanted to put up a quick update. Last week was the end of classes and this week has been exam week. Even without classes it has been a nonstop very busy week. Monday I had my Biology exam….Tuesday was History…and today was Chemistry. Only one exam left! I can’t believe that my first year of college will be over in 2 days. Looking forward to a nice long break! Well that’s all I have…hope the rest of the week is great for everyone. God Bless!

Great Weekend!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 13, 2010 by zclabo

This past weekend I enjoyed a great weekend with my friends at BCM. From Friday afternoon till Saturday we went to the HUB conference at White Oak. It was a great time for next year’s BCM leadership team to build relationships with each other and also for all of us to learn the power of prayer. Here’s the group from this weekend:

These guys (and girls) are all great and I am looking forward to spending the year working with them and watching God work in BCM. This weekend at HUB was all about prayer; why we should pray, what we should pray for and even how to pray. Its amazing how powerful prayer is and too often we pray just to pray, not because we want to see God work. Prayer should be something that is a priority in our daily lives, not something we feel we have to do. This song really reminded me how important prayer is and how close Jesus is:

On Saturday night we went to see Tigeroar, the a cappella group at Clemson. They were really good and I’m glad I went to see them. All last week was International Week and the last big event of the week was the International Festival. I went out there with a couple friends from BCM and enjoyed trying some new, different foods.

This week isn’t going to be too bad…not too much work. Looking forward to my parents coming up to visit this weekend. It will be a lot of fun. After that there is only one more week of classes and then exams. Man, this year has gone by so fast. Well, I hope this is a great week for everyone! God Bless!

Prayer Request

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7, 2010 by zclabo

This has been a very busy week and there is still plenty left to do. My grandfather “Pop” is in the hospital with some internal bleeding problems. I would really appreciate your prayers for him and my grandmother “Grammy”. Its hard being so far away and not being able to go visit them as much as I would like, but its really hard when they are sick or in the hospital. I know God is the Great Physician and he will be with them and comfort them during this time. He has been so faithful with all that my Mom has been through and I know it will continue now.

Pop – I will keep up with the Masters for you as much as I can and let you know how it goes each day. Get better and know that we are praying for you and Grammy!

Hope everyone continues to have a great week. God Bless!

Baseball…My Pastime

Posted in Uncategorized on March 31, 2010 by zclabo

Today I went to my first baseball game of the year and it was so much fun! Clemson was playing Coastal. I have seen Coastal play before and they were good…so I was expecting a great game. I realized that with the exception of 1 year – this is the first year that I have not played baseball since I was 3 years old. WOW! Going to the game reminded me of how much I love the game of baseball! I had me a Powerade and a bag of seeds…I had to! It really was a lot of fun! Here are a few pictures I took while I was there.

Clemson ended up losing 4-3 in 11 innings (which is more than normal for those of you who don’t know…but I hope everyone knew that :) ) It was a great game – Coastal was ranked 15th and Clemson was 10th. So nothing big going on here. Hope everyone has a great couple days to finish this week out. God Bless!

I Love This Weather!

Wow this has been a beautiful week! So here I am…I started this blog while we were hanging out outside!

This past weekend I went to Granddad and Granmom’s in GA and got to spend some time with all of them. Brandon had his Perfectly Polished Spring Formal, so I was able to go to that and see him to his thing. I always enjoy getting away and going to see them and spend time with them.

This week has been good so far. This week is a little different than most because I didn’t have Biology class today and I don’t have CPR tomorrow! Yeah – that’s such a great feeling!

Well I just got back from working out at Fike so now I’m ready to relax a little and get some work done. Not really any big news to let you guys know about.

Looking forward to going home this weekend and getting to spend time with family and friends for Easter. Only 3 more weeks and then final exams and my first year of college is over…wow that flew by fast! Hope everyone has a great week! God Bless!

Goodbye Spring Break, Hello Easter

Posted in Uncategorized on March 22, 2010 by zclabo

I know it has been a while since I posted last but I hope a few of you are still reading and checking in with my blog. I’m really going to try to stay up to date with everything so that everyone can kinda have a little look into what I’m doing.

Well today was my first day back after a great Spring Break at home! I was thinking today that at this time last year I was here in Clemson for my college visit. WOW what a year! So far things have been pretty good since I have been back…things are coming to an end but not without a lot of work, but hey, that’s part of college.

It was good tonight to get back together with my Bible Study group and see them. That time with them is always so encouraging and it just helps me to have a good week. It helps me to see that there are others going through the same things I am and that we can all help each other with whatever we are dealing with. Thanks guys!

On a little more spiritual note I want to thank Doug for giving me the opportunity to speak to the youth group last week while I was home. I was definitely nervous about it. The ironic part was everything I was telling them about I was having to apply just to tell them. I was talking about witnessing and how it is important to trust God to give you the words to speak and allow Him to speak through you, and as I’m doing this I’m praying that God will give me the right words and that He would use me to have some influence on the students that were there. I hope that I will have another opportunity to speak to them again.

In other news in case you didn’t know or you are completely separated from all electronics my NCAA bracket is completely messed up since Kansas lost…but honestly I was cheering for Northern Iowa. Hey it was fun while it lasted…and I’m not doing to hot with my NIT bracket either :) I guess there is still a chance for good ol’ Duke to pull one out.

Well that’s all I have for today…I hope to get something else put up again in the next few days! Hope everyone has a great week! God Bless!

My Little Buddy

Posted in Uncategorized on March 6, 2010 by zclabo

So this past Saturday was Drew Dulaney’s birthday. He has become my little buddy  and we always have fun playing.

Since I wasn’t home this past weekend 2 weeks ago we went out to eat with the Dulaneys and had an early celebration for Drew. Here he is opening his presents.

And here is Grace Anne with Mrs. Tami (mom).

So to see Drew’s “official” birthday post check it out here.

Another Day to be YOUR Shining Star

Posted in Uncategorized on February 9, 2010 by zclabo

It has been way to long since the last time I blogged but it has been really busy. Last week is in the running for one of my best weeks so far. Not sure if it was because Dad and Mom were coming up to visit or because I had a lot of work which kept me busy – either way I am thankful it was so good! This week is not so busy but I am praying that it is another good and productive week. One thing that I have found since I have been at college is that my quiet time and the time I spend with others doing Bible Study is very important. It seems that if I miss that time for some reason my day just isn’t as good…I always tried to have a quiet time in the past but i just never found the time (because it wasn’t as important to me then). Now I MAKE time because when something is important it will get done. So here are some things I have been thinking about recently.

It seems like in all I do I am faced with difficulty and I am always surrounded by people making choices that I know are not pleasing to God. I have learned that there is a reason Jesus has put me here – even in the matter of persistence Jesus is our example. As He did we push ahead – following God’s will for our lives – no matter how hard it gets. And we CAN do it because God is with us. // There are always those times when we feel like what we are doing is useless and that we aren’t having any effect for Christ…Life usually requires us to spend some time on the pine as a reserve, waiting for our chance to play with the big boys. // 18 “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. (John 15) When I read this it really caught my attention. Hatred can mean a lot of things — Webster says: intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear or anger…that makes sense – the people of the world that “hate” us act this way because I believe they fear what we tell them. I think that many people believe in God but don’t have the courage to be different than the people around them. Anger…well that makes sense too – they are angry because they don’t have what we have. (O by the way..it’s our job to help them find Him) // Last thing…I have really been thinking about where God is talking about being IN the world but not OF it. This has really become a reality to me recently. I cant’ change my circumstances and what I’m around, but I can choose what I do where I am. We think we have plans for where we are going to go and what we are going to do…then God decides to let us in on a little secret – He is in control! I believe Tony Dungy puts it best “I am a firm believer that the Lord sometimes has to short-circuit even our best plans for our benefit.”

So I hope this is beneficial to someone. I plan to keep the blog updated a little better than I have been. Hope everyone has a great week! God Bless.
